What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a way for you to be able to understand yourself, relationships, the world and how to navigate all of it together.  Through talking, connecting, experimenting, and taking risks you can start to feel more peace in your life. The first goal of therapy is to build trust with your therapist.  It is most important that you like your therapist!  Learning to build trust is sometimes one of the hardest things to do and there is magic in the healing power of being able to fully trust someone.  Your relationship with your therapist is like no other you will ever have.  For one thing, it is all about you!  Someone in your life who isn't going to lean on you for support.  Your therapist will genuinely interested in you and your well being.  With this level of trust you will be able to forge into areas in your own life that may seem scary and reach a place of calm and acceptance.  When you make these steps you (and others) will see differences in how you carry yourself in your life.

If you've never been to therapy before...
Your first session will be a chat, you can talk about as much or as little as you like - just make sure you feel as comfortable as possible.     This is your chance to see what it is like to sit and talk with me.  Listen to your gut, your intuition and I will try and help you tune into that.  Of course you will be nervous, but you will know deep inside if this is the right choice for you.
